Betty Geraldine "Jerri" Kish

Betty Geraldine “Jerri” Kish, age 79, of Hopedale, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2015 in Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz surrounded by her loving family.

   Born April 30, 1936 at home in German Twp., Harrison Co., she was a daughter of the late Stephen J. Toker and Mary E. Newburn Toker. Jerri was 16 when she graduated from Jewett High School in 1953 and attended Mt Union College. On September 13, 1954 she married the love of her life, John E. Kish, who grew up on the farm next to her. She was the manager at the Steubenville Elks Club for over 10 years and worked at the former Greenery restaurant in Steubenville for over 10 years until an injury forced her to retire. For many years she enjoyed helping her daughter Jeani at her store “Gingerbread and Bows” in Scio.

   Jerri was a member of the First Christian Church in Steubenville. She  collected antiques and glassware. But the thing she loved the most was cooking with her husband John for her family.

   Surviving in addition to her husband of almost 61 years are daughters Jeani (Denny) Cagot of Hopedale and Janet (Dennis) Hirschbach of Jewett; grandchildren Gary (Melanie) Coleman, Steven Coleman, Bryan (Patrice) Hirschbach and Darcy (Joe) Espenschied; great grandchildren Tyler, Austin, Dylan, Cierra, Korie, Bailee, Paityn and Bryce; a great-great grandson Caiden and siblings Richard (Gladys) Toker of Winterhaven, FL, Carole Lalich of Wichita, KS and Bill Toker (companion Sandy Lamonte) of Hopedale.

   Services will be held Monday at 11 am in Koch Funeral Home, Scio with Pastor Mike Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, Colerain. Friends may call Sunday from 1-3 and 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Harrison Community Hospital Foundation, Attn Carol Patton, 951 E Market St., Cadiz 43907.
