Douglas F. Vermillion, age 45, of Mount Vernon, formerly of the Tippecanoe area, passed away unexpectedly on March 2, 2015 at Knox Community Hospital.  

   Born March 19, 1969 in Dennison he was the son of James and Thelma Armstrong Vermillion of Scio. He attended Lakeland High School until moving with his family to Anderson, SC where he graduated from McDuffie High School in 1987. Doug worked for International Paper in Mt Vernon for the past 10 years. He enjoyed antique tractor pulling and hunting.

   Surviving in addition to his parents, is his wife, Vicki (Wells) Vermillion, two sons, Cody Vermillion and Connor Vermillion both of Westerville, three step-children, Matt (fiancé – Amy) Thompson of Fredericktown, Mandy (Tyler) Moore of Utica and Melissa (Anthony) Smith of Fredericktown; five step-grandchildren, Kayla and Aubrey Thompson, Jordan Moore, Ciara and Jace Smith, three sisters, Carol (Eric) Poulson of Bolivar, Kathy (Dave) Stotzer of Mineral City, Mary (Guy) George of Bowerston, along with many nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Dixie Rockwell and father-in-law, Terry (Connie) Wells.

   Doug was preceded in death by his infant brother James Vermillion.

   Services will be held Saturday at 2 pm in Park Christian Church, 236 Miller Ave., Dennison, with Rev. Scot Caley officiating. Burial will follow in Newport Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 11 am – 2 pm prior to the service at the church. Koch Funeral Home, Scio has been entrusted with his arrangements.
