Hannah Virginia (Watkinson) Carr

   Hannah Virginia Watkinson Carr 90, of Park Village, Dover, formally of Scio, passed away Monday June 20, 2016. She was the youngest of nine children born to Peter and Louise Watkinson on November 12, 1925 in Mount Pleasant, Ohio.

   Virginia graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1943. After graduation she moved to Scio where she met her future husband Robert Carr while working at the Scio Pottery and Grief Brothers Box Factory where she was employed for a total of 42 years.  Ginny, as Bob would call her, was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking and baking for her family & grandchildren. They especially enjoyed her Strawberry and Pecan Pies and her Chocolate Chip Cookies! Ginny and Bob enjoyed many years of marriage before his passing in 2011.

   Virginia was a member of the Scio United Methodist Church, which was a prominent part of her life. She was the first woman to hold the position of Sunday School Superintendent, a position she held for 9 years. She also was a member of the Donna Vorhies Sunday School Class and later become a teacher of the Royal Sunday School Class. She was past president of the Mark Brown Circle, the Ester Hougue Circle and the United Methodist Women. She served on the Building Committee when the new church was built in 1971. She also served as a finance,trustee, and on the administrative board.  Her love for music lead her to the sing in the church choir for over 42 years. She also served on the District WSCS nominating committee for two years

   Virginia was also community minded she was a member and served as president of the Scio Civic Club and the Alturian Club and was a member of the Friends of the Library. She was a cancer survivor and served 3 years as Chairman of the Harrison County Chapter of the American Cancer Society.

    Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Bob, sisters, Dora Goodwin,Mary Feutz, Laura Coleman, Helen Warner, Edna Crowl and brothers George and Charles Watkinson.

   Surviving is a son and daughter in law Tom and Barbara Carr of New Philadelphia.; grandchildren Alisha (Joel) Cramblett of Plant City, Fla. and Tommy (Jeni) Carr of Concord, North Carolina; great grandchildren Hannah Cramblett of Dover, Ohio, Ayla and Josie Cramblett of Plant City, Fla. and Kaitlynne and Karissa Carr of Concord N.C. Also surviving is a sister Betty Christ of Manchester Ind. and several nieces & nephews.

   Visitation will be Fri. June 24th from 5 to 8 P.M. at Koch Funeral Home in Scio. Services will be Sat. June 25th at 10 A.M.at the Scio United Methodist Church, with Pastor Deborah Kellar officiating. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions in Virginia's memory be made to the Scio United Methodist Church, PO Box 554. Scio, Ohio 43988.
