James R. “Rod” Sherbs, 64, of Scio, formerly of Colerain and Belmont, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 21, 2015 after an apparent heart attack. Born March 9, 1951 in Clarksburg, WV he was a son of the late James William Sherbs and Helen Bartosh Sherbs. .
In his younger years Rod worked at the Powhatan #6 coal mine and later retired from OVRTA of Wheeling. He was Baptist by faith. Rod was an avid pool player who also enjoyed hunting and fishing. But what he enjoyed most was spending time with his friends and family.
Surviving are his wife of 17 years, Sharon Lewis Sherbs, they married April 27, 1998; , Shawn (Alicia) Martin, Sheldon (Dawn) Sherbs, Michael (Michelle) Sherbs and Gary (Lacey) Williams; grandchildren Abbi Martin, Dusty Sherbs and Paige Williams; special cousins Steve Mikey and Charles James; two special little girls Addey and Aubrey Berdine and neighbors and special friends Mary Sabina and Sheila Gamble.
Services will be held Sunday at 1 pm in Koch Funeral Home, Scio with Pastor Mike Cunningham officiating. Friends may call Saturday from 2-8 pm at the funeral home.
