Lillian Lucille (Scott) Bishop

November 29, 1948 ~ July 25, 2016 (age 67) 67 Years Old


   Lillian Lucille Scott Bishop, age 67, of Scio went home to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, July 25, 2016  at Community Hospice House, New Philadelphia surrounded by her loving family.

   Born November 29, 1948 in Dennison she was a daughter of the late Earl Junior Scott and Mary Martha Rainsberg Scott. She graduated from Conotton Valley High School in 1967 and earned a degree in nursing from Belmont Technical College in St. Clairsville.  A hard worker all of her life, Lillian worked at the Scio Pottery, the former Wheeling-Pitt Steel Mill, as a rural mail carrier for the Postal Service and was an LPN at the Harrison County Home and various other area nursing homes.

   Lillian’s life was devoted to Christ, her compassion and acceptance of others earned her the nickname of “Aunt Lil” in the Scio Community. She was an active member of the former Scio Nazarene Church for almost 40 years serving as a board member, secretary, treasurer and sang and played the piano. She was currently attending Scio United Methodist Church where she had cherished the time spent with her daughter Heather and other community churches performing the Bethlehem Walk.  She was also a member of the former Lincoln Grange.

   In addition to her parents Lillian was preceded in death by step mothers Edith Lucille Skaggs Scott and Lucille “Lou” Beemer Scott.

   Surviving are a son John Steven (Shelly) Bishop of Sandy, Utah; a daughter Heather Christine Bishop of Carrollton; grandchildren John Bishop, Charlotte (Shea) Gifford, and Grant and Elizabeth Bishop; a sister Ethel Jean (John) Wyckoff of Magnolia, James “Jim” (Twila) Scott of New Philadelphia, Carl (Cindy) Scott of Williston, TN and George Scott of Scio; the father of her children John (Donna) Bishop of Jewett and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews she loved but she was especially close to Sarah, Emma and Aaron.

   Services will be held Friday at 1 pm in Scio United Methodist Church with Pastor Fred Battles officiating. Burial will follow in Conotton Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Koch Funeral Home, Scio.
