Shane Matthew Shook, age 18, of Jewett died from injuries sustained in a tragic automobile accident on Saturday, February 24, 2018.
Born March 23, 1999 in Dover he was a son of John and Kristy Bartimus Shook of Jewett. Shane grew up playing little league baseball for the Jewett Blue Jays and biddy football for the JS Vikings, where he was the center and was proud to be a part of the teams that went undefeated. He continued playing football at Harrison Central High School until his junior year. Shane was blessed to be raised on the family farm running tractors, equipment and riding four-wheelers. But it was the time spent with his dad in the garage where Shane found his gift as a mechanic. He entered the Belmont-Harrison Career Center’s Agriculture Mechanics (Diesel) program where he was a member of a team that participated at state competitions. He also served as President of BHCC FFA his senior year. After graduating from Harrison Central and BHCC in 2017 he continued working with his family on the farm and was a mechanic for Evolution in St. Clairsville. Shane had a big heart and was always willing to use his skills as a mechanic to help others.
Surviving in addition to his parents is a brother John Brandon Shook and a grandmother Debra Bartimus both of Jewett and aunts Chassity (Richie) Rector of Harlem Springs, Kendra Crook of Jewett and Mark (Mary) Shook of New Rumley and cousins.
Shane was preceded in death by grandparents Donald Bartimus and Joe and Helen Shook.
Services will be held Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 11 am in Koch Funeral Home, Scio with Rev. Kimberly Arbaugh officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Hopedale. Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8 pm at the funeral home.
