Alvin M Herndon

   Alvin M. Herndon, age 96, formerly of Tappan Lake area, passed away January 8, 2023 at Hennis Care Center, Dover, Ohio.

   Born November 14, 1926 in Uhrichsville he was a son of the late Allen Mitchell Herndon and Ella Baclesse Herndon. He graduated from Uhrichsville High School and was an Army WWII Veteran. Alvin was the owner and operator of H&M Tire in Carrollton.

   Alvin was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church where he shared his love for singing in their choir. He was also a member of the Mystic Tie Lodge #0194.

  Surviving are his wife of 72 years, Alma Johnson Herndon, whom he married October 20, 1950; daughters Ellen (Reuben) Keener and Patricia (Kevin) Keffer; grandchildren Tess (Dan) Kirtz, Mitch (Jackie) Keener, Ben (Tara) Keffer, Anne (Isaia) Crosson and Ella Keffer; great grandchildren Sarah and Alex Kirtz, Reagan, Ross and Emily Keffer, and Alma Crosson.

   The family has honored Alvin’s wishes to entrust his body to The Ohio State University College of Medicine for anatomical research. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
