Donna Jean Thompson Carter
Donna Jean Thompson Carter, age 76, formerly of Scio, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2023 at her home in Bowerston.
Born October 27, 1946 in Perrysville she was a daughter of the late John R. Thompson, Sr. and Olive Marie Arnold Thompson. Donna went to work at the Scio Pottery when she was just 16 years old. At the Pottery she met a young man who would become the love of her life, David Carter. After graduating from Scio High School in 1964, she and David married June 11, 1966. They would add two daughters, Denise and Dana to complete their family. Donna left the Pottery after 27 years of services and then worked for various local businesses.
Donna was a former member of the Scio VFD Auxiliary and Scio American Legion Post 482 Auxiliary. She enjoyed collecting lighthouses, jigsaw puzzles and was a gambler at bingo and slot machines. But what she loved most was time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving is her husband of 56 years David M. Carter, a daughter Denise (Paul) Leddy of Jewett; grandchildren Dylan (Samantha) Leddy of Bowerston, Joseph (Samantha) Decker, Jr. of Scio, Leslie (Bryson) Porter of Jewett and Jordon Greer; great grandchildren Vince, Max, Connor and Dominic; a sister Linda Higgins of Leesville; a brother John Thompson, Jr of Bowerston and a brother-in-law David Pasiuk of Carrollton, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Dana Decker, a sister Sandra Pasiuk, an infant sister Helen Thompson and brother-in-law Mike Higgins.
A Memorial Service is being planned for a later date. Koch Funeral Home, Scio has been entrusted with her arrangements.
