Janet Bolitho McAfee, age 83, passed away Friday, April 7, 2023 at her home near New Rumley surrounded by her loving family.
Born December 4, 1939 in Hanover she was a daughter of the late Carl R. Bolitho and Mildred G. DeWalt Bolitho. A 1960 graduate from Jewett High School, Janet spent many summers working with her family in the Miller Concession’s stand at area fairs. She enjoyed being a farm girl who loved her cats and chickens. She was a talented seamstress, fixing torn clothes and making quilts all by hand and an excellent cook and baker, being known for her delicious applesauce and no-bake cookies. Family meant the world to Janet and she always enjoyed attending the Bolitho family reunion.
Surviving are her husband Ralph E. McAfee; sons Ross McAfee and Charles “Chuck” (Ruth) McAfee; daughter-in-law Janice McAfee; grandsons Dustin, Tyler and Daniel James McAfee; step grandchildren Bill Phillips and Stacie Bates; a step great grandson Trenton James Phillips; siblings Carl “Bud” Bolitho , John Bolitho, Delores Ross, Carol DeWalt, Norma Cagot, Maxine Norris and Audrey Birney as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are a son John McAfee, twin sister Jane Coffield, sisters Martha Boone, Ellen Ross, Mary Virginia Bailey and Eleanor Kay Eddy and an infant brother.
Services will be held Thursday, April 13th at 2 pm in Koch Funeral Home, Scio with Pastor Matt Bates officiating. Burial will follow in New Rumley Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday, April 12th from 2-4 and 5-8 pm at the funeral home.
