Robert H. "Buddy" Erwin, Jr Obituary

Robert H. “Buddy” Erwin, 59, of Madison, Ohio, gained his wings on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, after a brief illness.

Buddy was born on April 16, 1961 in Dennison, Ohio, the oldest son of the late Robert H. “Bob” Erwin, Sr, and the late Laura Louise Barcus Erwin. He grew up in Circleville, Ohio, graduating from Circleville High School in 1979. Buddy was a proud member of the Dynamic Mentions Drum Corps for many years. He still talked and “bragged” about those days all the time. He continued his love of drumming playing drums in his church for many years. His favorite hobby was fishing, and nothing made him happier than his days fishing Lake Erie with his best friend and “brother” Tim “Cletus” Kimbrough.

Buddy spent almost twenty years working for The Home Depot, where he was deeply loved and respected in both Tupelo, MS, and Chardon, OH. He did not just have co-workers, he had family. Family that got him through the first battle with cancer. Family that never gave up and helped keep him positive and strong. When he re-located to Chardon Home Depot he was blessed again with a great “family” that would move mountains to support him. But, through everything, his focus was always “his girls”, who he loved more than life itself.

Buddy is survived by his wife Grace Harris Erwin, who he married on August 15, 1993. Their children Spencer (Lisa) Greer and Shaye Greer, all of Madison. Two grandchildren, Jordan Greer of Alexandria, VA, and Cheyenne Greer (Zach) of Madison. And the newest apple of Buddy’s eye, great granddaughter McKenzie Nycoal of Madison.  He is also survived by sister Suella Chaffin (Gene Vance) of Obetz, OH and daughters Jakki Chaffin and Amber Stewart (Josh). And his brother Mitch Erwin of Columbus, OH.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents. Private services were held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Koch Funeral Home, Scio has been entrusted with his arrangements.
