Charlotte Marie Johnson

Charlotte Marie Johnson Kaufman Johnson, 72, formerly of Scio, died Tuesday evening, July 17, 2018, following a stroke. She was born September 10, 1946 in Twin City Hospital, Dennison, OH to Charles Howard and Helen Louise Manbeck Johnson.

A devoted teacher, she began her career tutoring Spanish at Kent State University at the DG House and teaching junior high ESL at Instituto Moderno in Humantla, Tlaxcala, Mexico. Her undergraduate education included a BA in Human Relations & Business at Amber University, as well as attending Asbury College; Kent State University, Navarro College and University of Kentucky system where she studied nursing. She also studied psychology at Ohio State University- Marion and Library Management at Morehead State University in Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents William and Flossie Reese Johnson and Emerson and Mary Harriman Manbeck; daughter Camille Johnson Dowd; sister-in-law Emma Lou Johnson Steineman; aunts and uncles Paul Johnson, Eileen Johnson Kerr, Robert Manbeck, Virgil Manbeck and Doris Manbeck Terrano.

Surviving are her darling husband, Rev. George Johnson, precious children Trevor (Angel Smith) Johnson, Houston, TX; Douglas (Tina) Johnson, Mendon, OH and Terese Johnson McLandsborough Christian, Russells Point, OH; a brother Charles Johnson, Medford, WI; ,  son-in-law Gary Dowd, TX and nephew Eric Steineman, Rock Hill, SC.  Charlotte is also survived by many beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A celebration of Charlotte's life in Jesus will be held at Scio United Methodist Church, 117 Maple Ave, Scio, on Saturday, July 28 with viewing from 11-1 and services at 1 pm. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Scio. Koch Funeral Home in Scio has been entrusted with her arrangements. In lieu of flowers, online condolences may be made to Burning Bush Global Ministries or to the charity of your choice.
