Harry Jay Albright

June 8, 1941 ~ November 6, 2016 (age 75) 75 Years Old

Harry Jay Albright, age 75, of Scio passed away peacefully Sunday, November 6, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness.

Born June 8, 1941 in North Township, Harrison County he was a son of the late Edward “Bud” and Ruth Vankirk Albright. Harry worked for the Scio Pottery until 1969 when he started working at the Vale Mine near Freeport. Next he worked at the Oak Park Mine for Consol and then the Hopedale Mine for Y&O Coal until it closed in 1979. In 1981 he started working for North Township and retired in 2003 due to declining health.

Harry was a talented wood worker who delighted in sharing his gifts with others. Over the years he has made various pieces of furniture and toys for family and friends. He also donated pieces for area benefits and flag cases for the Scio American Legion Post #482 to give the families of fallen veterans. Never wanting money for his pieces he received his payment in the joy they brought to others. He was also a former member of the Sons of the Scio American Legion Post #482  and he enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger years.

Surviving are his wife Sylvia L. Trushell Albright who he married June 30, 1959; children Doug (Laurie) Albright of Simpsonville, SC, Jeff Albright of Bowerston and Sharon (Mike) Bocek of Cadiz; a brother Gilbert Albright of Canal Winchester; sisters Audrey Stull of Bowerston and Connie (Rex) Felgenhaur of Scio; grandchildren Caleb (Emily) Burnison, Derek (Kelly) Albright, Sheena (James) Matthews, Josiah Albright, Ryan (Kirsten) Albright, Ashley (Bubby Huffman) Cunningham, Brittany Cunningham and Michael Bocek  and thirteen great grandchildren.

Harry was preceded in death by a great granddaughter Bayli Jay DiLoreto, a brother-in-law Merle Stull, a sister-in-law Henrietta Albright and a daughter-in-law Rebecca Albright.
