   Joseph A. “Joe” Gale, 74, of Jewett passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Wheeling Hospital.

   Born November 8, 1942, he was raised in Jewett by his late grandmother Bernice Gale.  Joe graduated from Jewett High School in 1960 and joined the US Air Force. After honorably serving his country he when to work on the railroad. He started out working for Norfolk and Western then went to Norfolk and Southern and finally was a foreman for Wheeling and Lake Erie, retiring around 2006.  

   Joe was a member of the National Railroad Association. He enjoyed watching sports, especially his beloved Patriots, and playing cards.

   Surviving are his children Brenton Gale of Lees Summit, MO, Joanna (Jason Smith) Byers of Adena and Melanie Mickels of Naperville, IL; grandchildren Kyle, Evan, Payton, Nyah, Joseph, Mason and Christian; great grandchildren AJ and Brody; a brother Jack Gale of Florida and his loving dog Rocky.

   Preceded him in death are his wife Darla Kay Armstrong Gale on October 21, 2012 and his son-in-law John Mickels and grandson Jared McCauley who both passed away in 2016.

 Friends may call Saturday from 4-6 pm at Koch Funeral Home, Scio where services will also be held Saturday at 6 pm with his childhood friend Rev. Henry Mooney officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harrison County Dog Pound, 82900 Toot Road, Cadiz, Ohio 43907.
