Obituary

Surrounded by loved ones, Carolyn Curry, 83, of Uhrichsville went to be with the Lord on January 31, 2026, after a period of declining health. Born November 4, 1942, in Cleveland, OH, she was the daughter of the late James Smallcomb and Audrey Smallcomb DeWalt and George DeWalt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Audrick who passed December 29, 2017. She was also preceded in death by brothers Richard (Dick) and Thomas Smallcomb, sister Rita Forepaugh and an infant brother.

Carolyn grew up and attended school in the Jewett-Scio area. She married the love of her life, Audrick, on April 30, 1960, and they raised three children together: Eric, Kelley, and Wendy.

Carole spent her life working various jobs. While living in Texas from 1976-79, she worked for Waco Apparel making components of Levi's jeans. Once back in Ohio, she continued her career sewing in Barnesville. She operated two businesses; she and Audie owned a used car lot and an ice cream shop. Carole worked at Kmart in New Philadelphia and retired from the Walmart bakery in 2016, where she worked as a cake decorator, a craft she proudly learned later in life.

But her passion was caring for others, and she took pride in raising her children and caring for her parents. She was also an avid Cleveland sports fan, always cheering on the Cleveland Browns through thick and thin, as well as the Cleveland Indians/Guardians. She also supported her kids’ favorite NFL team, the Dallas Cowboys.

Carolyn earned her GED in 1998 that she proudly achieved with her sister Nancy. She was a member of the Harrison Hills United Pentecostal Church.

Carolyn will be deeply missed by her three children, Eric (Michelle) Curry of Dover, Kelley (Michael) Burwell of New Philadelphia, and Wendy (Stephen) Slates of Sherrodsville, grandchildren Samantha Cooper, Erik & Dylan Curry, Kylee Hill, Shane & Brandon Slates, sister Nancy Berry of Woodsfield, 7 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She will also be greatly missed by her dear friends, The Big Bend Breakfast Club. She treasured all her time with them.

Visitors may call Wednesday from 5-7 pm, as well as Thursday from 10- 11 am, at the Harrison Hills United Pentecostal Church, 87800 Cadiz-Jewett Rd, Jewett. Services will be held following the visitation at the church on Thursday at 11 am with Pastor Phillip Spellman officiating. Koch Funeral Home, Scio has been entrusted with her services.
