David M. Carter, age 80, of 517 Busby Drive, Bowerston, formerly of Scio, died at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 19, 2023 in Valley Hospice Liza's Place, Wheeling, WV.

He was born August 16, 1943 in Harrisville, Harrison County, Ohio; a son of the late Harold W. Carter and Sarah Edith Childers Carter.

He was retired from Harcatus Weatherization in Dennison. David loved watching sports on television, especially the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Guardians.

David is survived by his daughter, Denise K. (Paul) Leddy of Scio; grandchildren: Jordon Greer, Dylan (Samantha) Leddy, Joseph Decker, Lesley (Bryson) Porter; four great-grandchildren: Vince, Max, Connor, Dominic ; a brother, Orval "Ace" (Clara) Carter; sisters: Shirley Oszust, Virginia Fonner, Nancy (Kenneth) Joseph, and Judy (Gene) Roberts.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Thompson Carter. They were married on June 11, 1966. Also preceding him are a daughter, Dana Carter Decker; two sisters: Mary Alice Crothers, Dorothy Utter; and two brothers: Ronald Carter and Richard (Butch) Carter.
