IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Diane (Gilles)
Dray
February 14, 1955 – September 30, 2024
Diane Gilles Dray, age 69, of Scio, won her battle with cancer on September 30, 2024, as she peacefully passed away at her home with loving family around her. A promise fulfilled by her loving husband.
Diane spent 51 years being a loving and devoted wife to her "honey", Melvin Dray. Together they raised their son, Leroy Dray, with lots of love and many memories left behind to cherish; Leroy was her world.
Diane was known for making friends wherever she went. She was full of love, laughs and smiles. She had a special place in her heart for everyone she cared for during for 20-year employment with Horizon's.
She will always be remembered for her delicious candy, cookies and treats, and her willingness to sit and play cards anytime.
Diane enjoyed every holiday, and time spent with family here in Scio and in Medina. She enjoyed her trips to Wheeling, thrifting at Goodwill stores, vacations with Danny and Tammy Dray, and spending every Wednesday at Brightside's in Jewett, hoping to win the Queen of Hearts drawing; she truly embraced life.
Preceding her in death are her father Wenall Gilles, mother Estel Gilles, father-in-law Todd Dray, mother-in-law Hazel Dray, brothers Jerry, Michael and Randy Gilles, sisters Mitzie Woods and Janet Gilles, brothers-in-law Bill (Donna) Dray and Jack (Terri) Dray and a sisters-in-law Linda (John) Shotwell, Char Eddy and Dale Hamilton.
She will be missed, but never forgotten, by her loving family that include her husband Melvin Dray; a son Melvin "Leroy" Dray; a brother Derrick "DJ" Gilles; sisters Margaret Gum, Belinda Gilles and Melissa Steigerwald; brothers-in-law Jim Dray, Ronnie (Karen) Dray, John Dray, and Randy Dray; sister's-in-law Bertha Kagey, Betty Wheeler, Jane (Ed) Gilmore and Twig (Steve) Coffman; as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews and friends. – Save me a seat in heaven, I'll see you when I get there.
A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, October 20th at the RJ Spiker Firehall in Scio, starting with a memorial service at 1 pm, followed by a benefit pasta dinner, along with silent auction baskets. All donations will help the family with medical costs. Anyone wishing to send a donation can contact Penny Dray Howard at 330-663-4909 , or Jane Gilmore at 330-639-9676 . The family would also like to thank Rhonda Arbuckle and Pete and Sheila Koch.
