Obituary

Emma Helen Gamble, 76, of Scio passed away peacefully on Sunday April 28th, 2024, at Sunnyslope Care Center, Bowerston.  She was surrounded with passionate, caring, and loving employees at Sunnyslope and Crossroads Hospice Team.  Now Emma is with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Emma was born March 6, 1948, the daughter of the late Harold Raymond and Anna Sturgeon.  On September 18th, 1966, she married the love of her life, the late John Thomas Gamble Jr of Jewett.

She is survived by her three children.  John Thomas Gamble III (Beverly) of Cadiz, Jeanette Walker (Tim) of Louisville KY, William Russell Gamble of Scio, and grandchildren Brandon (Ashley) Huffman, Natasha (Joey) Jarvis, Kelsey Gamble, John Thomas Gamble IV, Michael (Savannah) Walker, Austin (Caroline) Walker, Cody Gamble, and Brooke Gamble, and Great Grandchildren Ava and Harper Huffman, Aiden and Arabella Jarvis, Colt Gamble, Winnie and Novalee Walker.  She loved and adored her stepmother the late Frances Sturgeon.  She is the sister of the late Charles, John, Annabelle.  And sister of David, Shirley, Donna, James, Pamela, Harold and Bruce.

She enjoyed playing sports and games.  Many days were spent in the backyard playing baseball, basketball, croquet, and badminton with her children and neighborhood kids.  She was her children's, grand-children's, and great-children's number one cheerleader.  If she was healthy enough to attend games or matches you would hear her above all others.  Her voice echoed across the room.  She was always so proud of all her children and grandchildren, and she let everyone know.  She would always give advice, whether you asked for it or not.

She worked for Scio Pottery and was a cook at Tappan Lake for many years.  She attended New Rumley Methodist Church and loved being a member of the Scio Garden Club.  She participated in the Scio Street Fair her riding tractor decorated with flowers to support the Scio Garden Club.  She included her grandchildren as well.  She adored her nieces and nephews and loved attending family reunions.  She enjoyed the shopping network, sudoku, and anytime spent with family and friends.    She "always" had something to say.  She loved all her kids and the community of Scio.
