Helen Cora Summers Buxton, age 94, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2024, in Cape Coral, Florida. She was born November 14, 1929, near Bolivar, Ohio, to the late Sylvester Cable Summers and Beulah Mildred Evans Summers.

Due to the death of her father when she was very young, she was given to a childless couple named Harley and Mary Schweitzer. They loved her as their own and raised her near Marlboro, Ohio.

Helen was employed by the Ohio Bell Telephone Company as a long-distance telephone operator. She married Morris Buxton on June 4, 1950.

Helen was a member of the Pleasant Valley Church near Tappan Lake, and she enjoyed singing in the choir. She asked Jesus into her heart in September1960, and she loved the Lord and desired to serve Him in her singing, lay speaking, and in any way she could. She loved working with children and was a 4-H advisor for many years.

Helen loved traveling with Morris across her beloved USA, and her trip to Israel was a highlight of her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Morris on August 20, 2022. She is survived by her four siblings: Johnny Summers of Canton, Ohio, Marion Summers of Canton, Ohio, Linda (Al) Collins of Canton, Ohio, and Judy Hobbs of Owensboro, Kentucky; four daughters Shirley (Craig) Findling of Malvern, Ohio, Betty (Jeff) Rossbach of Ellenton, Florida, Nancy (David) Jarrett of Cape Coral, Florida and Janet (Ron) Stringer of Jacksonville, Florida; eleven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

Helen asked that her obituary not highlight her life, but lift the name of Jesus, and her desire was for each person to receive Jesus Christ as Savior by repenting of his or her sins and asking by faith for Jesus Christ to enter their heart and become their Lord and Savior. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." John 3:16-17.

Services will be conducted by Koch Funeral Home, Scio, Ohio and held in Pleasant Valley Church, Tappan Lake (Scio), Ohio at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2024 with Pastor Mike Cunningham officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
