James “Jim” Edward Reicosky, age 88, received his Heavenly promotion August 15, 2026, passing peacefully and comfortably at his home on the farm, achieving final victory over a 16 yearlong battle with cancer.

A Christian man of unwavering faith, Jim was a member of Pleasant Valley Church near Tappan Lake and served on their board. In life, Jim was an extremely bright beacon of light leaving a long legacy of faith, positivity, gentleness, generosity and love that inspired and touched everyone he met. One of the most memorable moments of his 88-year faith walk, was being re-baptized at Tappan Lake hand in hand with his grandson, Ryan, August 31, 2025.

   Born March 25, 1938, he was the son of the late John Reicosky and Mabel Hanenkrat Meredith. He graduated from Bolivar High School in 1955 and attended Canton Business College where he met his first wife, Joyce Elizabeth Barr. Jim enlisted in the Air Force in 1957 and retired in 1977 achieving the rank of Master Sergent. During his service, Jim received Distinguished Graduate Honors, The Air Force Commendation Medal, and The Meritorious Service Medal. Jim achieved top secret clearance as an Airman in The Air Force Technical Applications Center (AFTAC), a surveillance organization whose mission is monitoring nuclear treaty compliance and conducting nuclear event detection around the world.

   After retiring from the Air Force, Jim moved his family back to Ohio and purchased the Flaherty farm near Tappan Lake, which he lovingly referred to as Heavenly Acres. There he enjoyed his deep love and appreciation for nature, wildlife and bald eagles. Shortly after returning to Ohio, He secured employment with Amko Cryogenics/Praxair where he continued his career in Procurement and Warehouse Management until his final retirement in 2007. Jim was a lifetime member of the NRA and belonged to the Cadiz American Legion Post 34.

   After the passing of his first wife Joyce in 2008, Jim was blessed again in love to meet Carol Ann Burton Albright at Hanover Methodist Church. They fell deeply in love and were married August 1, 2014. During their marriage, they enjoyed numerous adventures, made precious memories, and brought each other new life until her passing in 2021.

   Jim is survived by his children, Julie Reicosky, John (Neladee) Reicosky, Judi (John) Seleski, Jean McConnell; grandchildren, Deseri Reicosky & Ryan Reicosky, whom he helped raise as his own; grandchildren James & Jason Reicosky, Michael & Shawna McConnell; great granddaughter Evelyn Dimoff; sister Shirley Schie; niece Christine Sickles; stepson Ronnie (Michelle) Albright, and step grandchildren Alan (Darci) Albright, R.C. Albright, Cheyenne Albright, Levi Albright, Crystal Albright; and Jonathan Moore.

   Preceding him in death are his wife of 50 years, Joyce Elizabeth Barr Reicosky, and his second wife of 7 years, Carol Ann Burton Albright Reicosky.

   Services will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 3 pm in Pleasant Valley Church, 35500 Cadiz-Dennison Rd, Scio with Pastor Mike Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in Perrysville Cemetery. Friends may call two hours prior to the service from 1-3 pm at the church.
