Jared Joseph (Sams) McCauley, age 24, of Adena, formerly of Scio, died Monday, February 22, 2016 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born August 16, 1991 in Steubenville he was a son of Joanna Gale Byers (Jason Smith) of Adena and the late Steven Sams. When he was younger he played Biddy Basketball at Jewett Elementary and Little League Baseball in Scio. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

Surviving in addition to his mother, are sons Alexander James "Apple" Keener of Adena and Brody Joseph Risdon of Springfield; siblings Kyle Christopher Gale of Columbus, Evan Michael Byers of Adena and Cody and Casen McCauley both of Carrollton; a grandfather Joseph A. Gale of Jewett; uncles John (Melanie) Mickels of Columbus and Brenton Gale of Missouri and numerous cousins.

Jared was preceded in death by his grandmother Darla Kay Gale and great grandmother Dora Ida Bower.
