Obituary

Joyce Jean Hawthorne Bozicevic Stull, age 81, of Scio, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born August 19, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Wilmer Hawthorne and Alma Agnes Gow Hawthorne. She grew up in Piney Fork and graduated from Adena High School in 1962. Joyce held various jobs over her lifetime, but most people will remember her working for the US Postal Service. She started as a clerk and went on to become a Postmaster, serving at Harrisville, Barton and Scio post offices. Joyce also loved to dance; growing up she took lessons from Tony Zeakes and by the age of 16 she had arranged her first production. She went on to start her own studio, Joyce’s School of Dance, teaching others her passion. In 2013, she was honored to be asked by her granddaughter Callie to dance with her in her recital at Amanda’s Dance Academy in Cadiz.

Joyce was a member for over 50 years with the American Legion Auxiliary, first at Hopedale Legion Post 682 and then at Scio Post 482. She was also a member of the McCook Bowling Association and held various offices over the years for both organizations. She enjoyed playing cards and never missed an opportunity to go riding with her husband on his Harley. But what she loved most was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Joyce was preceded in death by her first husband John F Bozicevic, Sr in 2001, a brother and two sisters also precede her.

In 2002 she met Roger Stull, Sr and started the next wonderful chapter in her life, they married in 2011. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter Pennie (Richard) Eberhart of Cadiz; a son John “Freddie” Bozicevic, Jr; step children Amanda (Jerry Findley) Affolter of Scio and Roger “D.J.” Stull, Jr of Unionport; grandchildren Callie (Austin) Anderson of Cadiz, Bailey Eberhart of Woodstock, Ohio and Riley Eberhart of Columbus; step grandchildren Austin Sears, Jaylene Stull, Aleister and Axel Findley and Emerie Stull; great grandchildren Charlotte and Clayton Anderson, a sister-in-law Roberta (Bob) Stromski of Scio, nieces and nephews she was especially closes to Matthew, Alicia, Stacie (Josh) and Derek (Christina).
