Kirk "Doug" Douglas Shepherd, age 68, of Scio, Ohio, formerly of Burbank, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Akron General Hospital.

Born June 20, 1957, in Lodi, Ohio, he was the son of the late Howard Shepherd and Beverly Yeagley Shepherd. He graduated from Norwayne High School in 1975 and worked for 37 years at Advance Bronze in Lodi, retiring in 2021.

A former member of the Creston Moose prior to moving to Scio in 2011, Kirk enjoyed being outdoors and appreciated what living in the country had to offer. He was able to fish in area lakes and his own ponds, as well as hunt on his own property. He also enjoyed riding his 4-wheeler and motorcycle. Kirk, and his wife Karen, enjoyed traveling and had fond memories of multiple trips they took to West Virginia in their Jeep. But what he loved most was spending time with his family, especially playing with his grandkids.

Surviving is his wife Karen J. Good Shepherd, who he married 26 years to the day of his death, September 2, 1999; sons Travis (Lyndsey) Shepherd of Burbank and Troy (Tara) Shepherd of Wooster; step daughters Cindy (Hayes) Buckingham of West Salem and Nicole (Scotty) Colwell of Liberty, TN; grandchildren Zander, Austin, Skyla, Ayden, Ruby, Anna, Lane, Lydia, Weston, Amelia and Henry; and sisters Kathy Wohlford of Wooster and Susan Theile of Carthage, TN.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother Keith and brothers-in-law Ron Wohlford and Dan Theile.
