IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lannie "Ed"
Stark
June 2, 1944 – October 5, 2024
Lannie Edwin "Ed" Stark, age 80, passed away peacefully, Saturday, October 5, 2024, at his home in Jewett, surrounded by his loving family after a long illness.
Born June 2, 1944, in Hopedale, he was a son of the late James Stark and Margaret "Peg" Richards Stark. A Jewett High School graduate, he attended school at Hopedale until his senior year. Ed was an Army Vietnam Veteran and retired from the WV Air National Guard, where he was a crew chief on Huey helicopters. A true "jack of all trades", he owned and operated Starsky's Hutch restaurant, the Jewett Market, where he was the butcher, and Stark's Deer Processing all in Jewett. He had also worked for Boeing, American Steel and retired from Consol. He was a member of UMWA Local 7690.
A car enthusiast, Ed enjoyed working with the Marion Albright drag racing pit crew and attending car shows with his 1948 Chevy and 1937 Plymouth. He enjoyed old country music and campaigning for Democratic candidates. But most residents will fondly remember him as one of the local men that sat most mornings on the bench at the Jewett gas station, solving the world's problems.
Surviving is wife Vickie Meneely Stark, whom he married May 5, 1972; children Tami Carter of Cadiz, Stacy (Rick) Woods of New Rumley, Kim (Desiree) Stark of Aurora and Dusty Stark of Martins Ferry; grandchildren Kyle, Kaci, Katora, Brooklyn, Remington and Aiden and seven great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are brothers Ronald and James Stark, a sister Sally Torchik, and a son-in-law Thomas Carter
Service will be held Thursday, October 10, 2024, at noon in Koch Funeral Home, 101 W Main St, Scio with Pastor Mark Statler officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Jewett.
