Beloved childhood WWVA singer has passed away. Nancy Lee Barker Bonnell, of Scio, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Ohio's Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Wheeling, WV, she was the daughter of the late Joseph H. Barker and Shirley Riggs Barker. She started singing at age 4 with her parents and the Chuck Wagon Gang. By age 8 she had her own program for kids, The Nancy Lee Barker Show, which WWVA aired every Saturday morning. She continued singing throughout her life at area fairs and festivals and Jamboree USA, where she was a lifelong member. Nancy was proud to be able to share the stage, and her musical talent, later in her life with her granddaughter, Shanise, at area festivals. She enjoyed all kinds of music and attending concerts with her family, especially her favorite, the Eagles. She was also a member of the Scio American Legion Post 482 Auxiliary and the Scio Sportsman's Club.

She was preceded in death by husbands Floyd Stanley Bonnell, Sr, Robert "Red" McConnaughy and William "Crimmie" Crimm and a brother Joseph H Barker, Jr.

Surviving are children Floyd (Denise) Bonnell, Jr of Springboro, Shari (Steve) May of Hilliard, William "Billy" (Denise) Bonnell of Scio, Shirley (Chuck) Zukas of Canton and Anne (Josh) Leasure of Logan; grandchildren Brandon Bonnell, Brooke Bonnell, Brian May, Shanise "Shay" Bonnell, Skyler Bonnell, Amanda Zukas, Ronnie Zukas, and Haylee Leasure; ten great grandchildren, with another on the way, and her beloved cats Jasmine, Cloe and Cleo, that were her "babies".

Honoring her wishes, the family will have a celebration of her life with a dinner at the Scio American Legion Post #482, Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 2-5 pm.
