Devoted husband, dad, and papa, Roger William Philpott, 69, of Scio, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on November 25, 2023, after a short battle with cancer. Roger was born November 11, 1954, in Massillon, Ohio, to the late Clarence Philpott and Laura Marie Neff Skelton. He spent his early years growing up in Anstead, WV. Roger was a 1973 Washington High School graduate. GO TIGERS! He retired from Timken Roller Bearing plant after 30 years of service. He was an avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast who enjoyed riding whenever he could, participating in many poker runs in his early years. He also enjoyed watching The Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns. What he loved most was his wife, kids, grandkids, fishing, hunting, hiking, the outdoors and traveling, especially to the Outer Banks. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 43 years, Tyra (Statler) Philpott, daughter Faith (Calvin) Williamson, sons: Benjamin (Sonhui) Philpott and Matthew (Kasey) Philpott; Grandkids: Destinee, Gavin, Dylan, Mina,Mason, Andrew, Kaylynn, Kenley and Koralee. Sisters: Sharon (Nick) Soehnlen, Renee Decker, Doris Holmes, brothers: Clarence "Clyde" (Dianne) Philpott, Tom (Laura) Skelton, Mark Statler, Lenny (Bev) Statler, Theron Statler and host of nephews, nieces and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Philpott, Laura Neff Skelton, Ernest "Red" Skelton, Donald Statler and Evelyn Statler, brother, Hoyt Skelton, sister, Linda Renfro, and nephews Troy Philpott and Shane Gowins. Roger spent much of his life with D.I.S.H (Diffuse Idiopathic Skeletal Hyperostosis) and desperately wanted more research done on the disease and possible cures. Services will take place at Koch Funeral Home located at 101 West Main Street, Scio, OH, 43988 on Saturday, December 2, 2023. Friends may call from 11am-1pm with the service starting at 1pm, Pastor Mark Statler officiating.
