Obituary

Thomas A Smith, age 65, formerly of Boardman, passed away suddenly, Monday, March 30, 2026, at his home near Jewett.

Born September 12, 1960, in Youngstown, he was the son of the late Harold Smith and Mary Valentine Smith. Thomas grew up in Boardman and graduated from Boardman High School in 1979. He had been a delivery truck driver and worked in IT at Akron Children’s Hospital prior to finding his purpose in life. In 2005, while granting his daughter’s wish by taking her on a trail ride, he found Faith Ranch near Jewett. He was so taken by the sense of community there he began volunteering most weekends which eventually led him and his family to move to Jewett in 2014. He served as a group coordinator and helped with their marketing.

Thomas attended the Church of the Cross and lived his life to the fullest. He enjoyed roller skating, go-karting and was a storm chaser. He liked being outdoors fishing, landscaping, gardening and mowing the grass. He loved spending time with his family, especially his monthly trips to Amish country thrifting with his daughter.

Surviving is his wife of almost 42 years, Cindy L Clark, whom he married May 21, 1984. Also surviving are his daughter Tiffany Smith of Jewett, a sister Kathy (Lloyd) Raynes of Lexington, SC, nieces Jennifer James and Robin Letts and his dog, aka “his favorite child”, Dash.

He was preceded in death by a stillborn brother Tom.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday May 9, 2026, at Faith Ranch, the time to be determined at a later date. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Faith Ranch Scholarship Fund, PO Box 355, Jewett, Ohio 43986 or on their website at www.faithranch.org Koch Funeral Home, Scio has been entrusted with his arrangements.
