McLaughlin
Apr 12, 1947 — Oct 23, 2026
William “Bill” Conrad McLaughlin, age 79 of Bowerston, passed away peacefully on October 23, surrounded by his loving family, following a period of declining health.
Born on April 12, 1947, to Leonard and Jean Marie (Rothermund) McLaughlin. He graduated from Scio High School in 1966 and went on to attend Nashville Auto-Diesel College. A skilled and dedicated businessman, Bill took great pride in owning and operating MTR Transmissions.
Bill was a devoted father, always being there for his children, no matter the situation. His strong Christian faith was an important part of his life, and he made sure to teach his children about the Lord. His love and guidance will remain with them throughout their lives.
He was a man with a generous heart who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Beyond his work, Bill had a special love for Corvettes. The proud owner of two of his dream cars, he especially loved cruising along the lake, enjoying the freedom of the open road. Bill also had a profound love for music. Listening to his favorite songs and watching music videos always brought him joy.
Bill’s life was shaped by family, lasting connections, and the many memories made along the way. Though life took different paths over the years, the bonds of family endured, and he remained an important part of the lives of those who shared in his journey.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Sue Ann Dometrovich; his children, Josh McLaughlin, Joy Lamp (Josh Mauge), and Adam McLaughlin (Beth Hill); the mother of his children, Cindy (English) Spiker (Tom); his sister, Gaila McLaughlin Hartline; and his brother, Jim McLaughlin. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Sayje Horvath (Ty), Noah McLaughlin, Layne Miller, and Will McLaughlin, who carry forward his family’s legacy and memories.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Mardi McLaughlin Duffy and nephew Jeff Nichols.
In keeping with Bill’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. The family will gather for a private memorial at a later date.
Bill’s family takes comfort in their faith and in knowing that he is now at peace, in the loving arms of the Lord, where they will be reunited with him again one day.
