William “Bill” Henry Heisler, age 96, of Brooksville, Florida, formerly of Hopedale, passed away July 2, 2026. He was born May 31, 1930 at home in German Twp, Harrison County on a farm which was land granted to his German ancestors in 1799. He was the son of the late William Howard Heisler and Mildred Emery Heisler. Bill married the love of his life, Mary F. Morris Heisler, February 10, 1951. After almost 68 years of marriage, she proceeded him in death on June 18, 2018. Bill was also proceeded in death by a son, John David Heisler.
Surviving are his children Karl (Annette) Heisler of Hopedale, Randy (Cheri) Heisler of Charleston, SC and Sandra (Kurt Barkdull) Borojevich of Vermillion; grandchildren Corey (Jennifer) Heisler of Akron, Natalie Heisler of Wadsworth, Brandon (Nicole) Heisler of Watertown, MA, Brittany (David) Johnston of Charleston, SC, Mia Borojevich of New Philadelphia and Lia (Sonny) Dubetz of Hinkley great grandchildren Adley and Henry Heisler, Robert Beatty. Brynlee Heisler, Jillian Johnston and Shilo Carter, a sister Betty Carney of Washington, PA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill worked as a basic oxygen furnace operator at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, retiring after over 43 years of service. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy, during both Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired from the U.S. Naval Reserve as a Chief Petty Officer.
Bill’s life embodied the true meaning of service to others. He was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church in Jewett, the Scio American Legion Post 482, the U.S. Navy Fleet Reserve Assoc., the Harrison Coal Reclamation Assoc., the United Steel Workers Union 1190, the Studebaker Drivers Club of America, and a former member of the Annapolis Range for over 50 years.
Services will be held Wednesday, July 15th at 11am in St. James Lutheran Church, 203 E. Main St. Jewett, OH 43986 with Pastor Bill Surber. Burial will follow in Germano Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-8 pm at Koch Funeral Home 101 W. Main St, Scio and an hour prior to the service on Wednesday from 10-11 am at the church.
