Alma J. Herndon
Alma J. Herndon, age 91, died Friday, August 25, 2023, in Hennis Care Center, Dover, after a lengthy illness.
Born July 9, 1932, in Freeport, she was a daughter of the late Dwight and Laura Davidson Johnson. She graduated from New Philadelphia High School and was a bookkeeper at H&M Tire.
Alma was a member of the Pleasant Valley Methodist Church at Tappan Lake and the Eastern Star. Alma was also a talented seamstress and knitter.
Alma married Alvin M. Herndon on October 20, 1950, and he preceded her in death on January 8, 2023.
Surviving is two daughters Ellen (Reuben) Keener and Patricia (Kevin) Keffer both of Dover, grandchildren Tess (Dan) Kirtz, Mitch (Jackie) Keener, Ben (Tara) Keffer, Anna (Isaia) Crosson and Ella Keffer and great grandchildren Sarah and Alex Kirtz, Reagan, Ross and Emily Keffer and Alma Crosson.
A private graveside service for both Alvin and Alma will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663. Koch Funeral Home, Scio has been entrusted with her arrangements.
