Carl Alan Clark, age 67, died Saturday, May 6, 2023 at his home near Deersville after a brief illness. Born July 24, 1955 in Xenia Ohio, he was a son of the late Charles Everett “Jack” Clark and Shirley Dotson Clark. Carl honorably served his country in the US Army.
A hard worker all of his life, Carl operated a crane for Republic Steel in Cleveland for 26 years, retiring from there in 2002. Then he went back to school and received his certification in HVAC and worked for the next six years at Climatech in North Ridgeville. After moving to his retirement retreat in Harrison County, Carl became the Director of Maintenance for Twin City Hospital in Dennison for six years and then held the same position at Harrison Community Hospital in Cadiz until retiring in 2017. He was also a carpenter, electrician and installed tile; a true “jack of all trades” and had mastered some.
Carl enjoyed remote controlled airplanes and belonged to the Oldtown Valley Flyers Club in Dundee. He had also dragged raced cars at Norwalk and at one time he might have been seen street racing on Quigley Ave. in Cleveland. He also enjoyed model cars, puzzles and being outdoors, biking, hiking, boating and camping. But what everyone loved about Carl was his honest, kind and loving spirit that allowed him to make friends with anyone he met and his willingness to always share his talents with anyone in need.
Surviving is the love of his life, Elaine Ann Martinson Clark, whom he married in 2002; daughters Heather (Johnathan) Clark-Wise of KY and Amanda (Billy) Lobenthal of OH; stepdaughters Noelle (Michael) Mills and Jenelle (Enzo) Bolzan both of OH; grandchildren Masen (Glynis) Wise and Stone Wise; step grandchildren Gianni Bolzan and Asher and Sebastian Mills; great grandsons Adonis and Troy Wise; siblings David (Cathy) Clark, James (Karen) Clark, Debbie (Don) Hoosier, Vicky (Jimmy) Ferguson, Greg (Debbie) Clark and Mark Clark. In addition to his parents he was preceded by a brother Bobby.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 1-7 pm at Koch Funeral Home, 101 W Main St, Scio, with Scio American Legion Post #482 providing military honors at 7 pm. The family will honor his wishes to be cremated after the visitation.
