Helen Murdean Lawthers, age 88, of Jewett passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021 in Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia. Born January 12, 1933, in the home she lived in all of her life, she was a daughter of the late Oliver and Alma Wolfe Shultz. Helen worked in the school cafeterias at Jewett Elementary, Jewett-Scio High School and Harrison Career Center in Cadiz but the job she enjoyed the most was being mom to her daughter Marilyn Miser, who resided with Helen.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenny Lawthers, a son James Allen Miser, a stillborn daughter Peggy Darlene Miser and brothers Charles and Paul Shultz.
Helen was a member of the Jewett United Methodist Church. She was an animal lover who enjoyed feeding and watching birds and especially loved her dogs that were like family.
In keeping with Helen’s wishes there will be no services. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Jewett. Koch Funeral Home, Scio has been entrusted with her arrangements.
