Louis W. Hewitt, age 92, of Cadiz, died Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz.
Born August 13, 1931, he was a son of the late George T. Hewitt and Vivian Heist Hewitt. He is preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Clarke Hewitt, George Hewitt, Ronald Hewitt, Marie Miller, Priscilla Schwenck. Surviving is his sister, Florence Bruno of Dahlonega, GA. Louis did not have children of his own but was adorned with many nieces and nephews. Over the years he maintained especially close relationships with his niece Joanne Schwenck Roberts and her husband John Roberts and his nieces Susan Bruno Greco and Lisa Bruno Roselli.
Louis was an advocate of lifelong learning, taking numerous classes at Belmont College in St. Clairsville. He shared his love of learning with children, being a former volunteer at Harrison Hills Elementary School and Lakeland Academy in Freeport and was currently working part-time at Puskarich Public Library in Cadiz. OH. His passion for cars led him to his profession for most of his working years of selling cars. His next passion, was playing golf and watching sports
Louis was a member of the New Rumley Methodist Church where he was a former advisory board member and past Sunday School superintendent. He was a 50 yr. member of the Composite Lodge #499 F&AM in Roseville, MI, serving on their degree team, a lifetime member of the Valley of Michigan Scottish Rite in Detroit, MI and a 50 yr. member of the Detroit Shriners.
Louis was a man who embraced life and kept himself busy up to the very end. He loved on those around him and was led by his faith. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Services will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 11 am in New Rumley Methodist Church, 41395 Scio-New Rumley Rd Scio, with Pastor David Lee officiating. Harrison Lodge 219 F&AM will have a Masonic Service at 10 am prior to the service at 11 am. Burial will follow in New Rumley Methodist Cemetery. Koch Funeral Home, Scio has been entrusted with his arrangements.
