Roddy Kenneth “Kenny” Mackey

   Roddy Kenneth “Kenny” Mackey, age 68, of Scio, formerly of Kershaw County, South Carolina, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Aultman Hospital, Canton, Ohio after a lengthy illness.

  Born March 24, 1953 in Lancaster, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Roddy Curtis Mackey and Margaret Lucille Bennett Mackey. He attended Andrew Jackson High School in Heath Springs, SC and was a South Carolina National Guardsman in Jefferson County for 20 years.

   Kenny enjoyed fishing in the lakes around Kershaw County prior to moving to Scio, Ohio in April of 2020.  He was an avid supporter of the South Carolina Game Cocks and NASCAR. Kenny also enjoyed playing pool, bird watching from his front porch and sitting around bonfires with family and friends singing George Jones songs.

   Surviving are his wife Mildred “Elaine” Hinson Mackey, daughters Lisa (Carlos Paz) Najera of Lancaster, SC and Lori (John, Jr) Waid of Scio, OH, grandchildren John Waid III “Trey”, Jimmy Kenneth Knight and Jessica Michelle Waid; a great grandson James Eugene Knight; siblings Gail (Gilbert) Terry of McBee, SC, Patty (Rudy) Gentiles of Western, SC and Mandy (Alvin) Hammonds and Tim (Tammy) Mackey both of Lancaster, SC and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

   In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a grandson Johnny Knight and a brother David Curtis Mackey.

   A celebration of his life is being planned for a later date in Kershaw County, SC. Memorial contributions may be made to Lori Waid, 102 ODOT St, Scio, Ohio 43988. Koch Funeral Home has been entrusted with his arrangements.
