Velma P. “Betty” Covington Howes, age 94, of Scio passed away peacefully in Community Hospice Truman House, New Philadelphia surrounded by her loving family.
Born April 10, 1928 in Maynard, Ohio she was a daughter of the late Allen R. Covington and Pearl Edith Shaffer Covington. Betty worked on the kiln dryer at the Scio Pottery for 25 years.
In her younger years she enjoyed camping, she even spent a few winters camping in Florida. She also enjoyed crocheting, but what she dearly loved was spending time with her family.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Harry W. Howes; great grandsons Jason Tubaugh and Jared DeGarmo; brothers Burton, Ivan, Claude, Raymond, Oline “Dick” and Allen E. Covington, sisters Creola (Frank) Perko and Rose (Robert) Shane and her beloved dog Molly B.
Surviving is her son Ronald (Toni) Howes with who she resided; granddaughters who affectionately called her “Mom Mom”, Stephanie Johnson, Stacie (Clyde) Bailie, Rebecca Everhart and Ron-Michelle (Brian) Ruckman; eight great grandchildren and fourteen great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Honoring her wishes there will be no services at this time. A celebration of her life is being planned for a later date. Koch Funeral Home, Scio has been entrusted with her arrangements.
