Marlene R. “Marcy” Cerett Townsend, age 64, of Uhrichsville, OH, formerly of Jewett, OH and Harlem, GA, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 30, 2015 in Community Hospice House, New Philadelphia, Ohio surrounded by her loving family.

   Born May 26, 1951 in Wheeling, West Virginia she was a daughter of the late Louis Charles Cerett and Betty Eileen Stone Cerett. She graduated from Jewett High School in 1969 and worked at the Scio Pottery, The Restaurant in Scio, Coultraps near Tappan and the former Carousel Restaurant in Canton prior to moving to Harlem, Georgia in 2002. While living in Georgia she managed the Burger King in Cartersville.

   Marcy was always active in her community belonging to the Bethesda Baptist Church in Harlem and the Red Hat Lady’s where she served as a past Queen Mother. While living in Jewett she was a member of the Jewett Junior Women’s Club, where she served as a past president; Scio American Legion Post #482 Auxiliary, where she served as a past president and squad leader of the rifle corps; a correspondent for the Harrison News Herald and a squad leader for the former Silver Stepper’s.

   Surviving are her husband Roger Townsend who she married December 11, 1970; a daughter Shauna (George) Wauthier of Uhrichsville; grandchildren Heather (Ryan) Willison of Carrollton, Cody Bell of Ranger, GA, Zackary Valdez of Cartersville, GA and Emily Lane of Harlem, GA; great grandchildren Cameron and Kylie Willison and Bentley Bell; siblings Charles (Eva Jane) Cerett of Malvern, Rose Etta (Glenn) Kozak of Ripley, WV and Betty “Betsy” (Martin) Feldman of Santa Ana, CA and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two nephews.

   Graveside memorial services will be held Friday at 2 pm in Fairview Cemetery, Jewett with Rev. LuAnn Youngman officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Humane Society of your choice or any Suicide Prevention organization. Koch Funeral Home, Scio has been entrusted with her services.
