Ruth E (Bican) Hamilton

   Ruth E. Hamilton, age 93, of Scio, passed away Friday, January 29, 2016 in New Dawn Health Care Center, Dover. Born July 24, 1922 in Cleveland she was the daughter of the late Ladimir Bican and Josephine Pothorski Bican. She retired in 1983 from the Scio Pottery. Ruth and her husband Paul F. Hamilton received the Ruritan Citizens of the Year award in 1999 for their years of dedicated service to the Scio community. She was a member of the Scio Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon, the Scio American Legion Post #482 Auxiliary for over 40 years and the Crabapples. She and Paul enjoyed attending Experimental Air Craft Shows in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Paul preceded her in death on September 13, 2008 after 58 years of marriage. Surviving are cousins and close friends with whom she enjoyed many good meals and shopping trips, especially her best friend and caregiver Ina Marks.

Services will be held Monday at 2 pm in Koch Funeral Home, Scio with Rev. Jack Visser officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Scio. Friends may call two hours prior to the service from 12-2 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Scio Presbyterian Church, PO Box 363, Scio 43988.
